Hello friends!
After two years away, the New World Kirtan Podcast is returning. This episode of the podcast will tell you more about the why.
But basically, when we lost our beloved Bhakti brother David Newman — Durga Das — in April of 2024, the heart went out of me to continue producing this podcast. I needed to retreat for a while.
But community has a way of calling you back.
While I was away from the podcast, I was deepening my work here in Corvallis, Oregon. I’ve been producing a kirtan concert series at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship with the talented and generous Johanna Beekman. Watching strangers become friends, month after month, around this music reminded me why this work matters.
And that’s what this new season of the podcast is about: community. I’ll be talking with kirtan artists around the world about what they’re building, how they’re gathering people, and what this practice has to offer a world hungry for connection.
You — our worldwide listeners — are part of this community too. Welcome back! Together, we can turn the world to Love.
Next up, an interview with Saul David Raye.
