This week’s set is based on one we sang with our Kirtan/Meditation Group at Winter Solstice. It’s many variations on the chant “Om Asatoma Sad Gamaya Tamasoma Jyotir Gamaya Mrityor Ma Amritam Gamaya Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.”
This means “Lead me from the unreal to the real, Lead me from the darkness to the light, Lead me from death to immortality, Let there be peace peace and peacefulness.”
It’s such a beautiful chant, and appropriate as we are now slowly returning from darkness to light in our physical world. We’re asking that we move from spiritual darkness to light by singing the chants in this set, and as we increase our own spiritual illumination we also help increase that illumination in the world. This process can be helped with a prayer called the Great Invocation — I love it, and I’ll tell you more about it in the podcast. The Great Invocation is a World Prayer — it has been translated into over 70 languages & dialects. It’s an invocation for light and love.

THE GREAT INVOCATION
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ (consciousness) return to Earth.
From the center where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the center which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Planet Earth.

The last Asatoma chant is sung by Johanna Beekman. The meditation is from Shiva Rae’s Yoga Chant, Disc 2.
