Lately I’ve been sort of obsessed with the Gayatri Mantra. According to Hindu mythology the Gayatri came into being at the very beginning of the Universe — it’s a prayer to the sun and invokes spiritual light. For thousands of years it was a closely guarded secret, so powerful it was withheld from women & those outside the Hindu Brahmin community. Repetitions of the Gayatri mantra purify us, open our heart, and the vibrations activate all the main chakras. All of this has a cumulative effect on our bodies and minds — when our energy centers, including our main chakras, are activated by the Gayatri it has a positive and healing effect on our prana — the life force energy. Good stuff!

In this week’s set I’ll also tell you about the Shasta Yoga Fest, a sweet weekend in the shadow of the powerful Mt. Shasta in California.

Here’s the set list for this week. Luna Kristin Ray‘s version of the Gayatri Mantra can be found on her latest CD “Shining Through’, and Phil McWilliams chill Gayatri can be found on his CD ‘Bhakta’.
